My involvement with Pride Toronto over the past 6 years has definitely been a memorable one. I went from attending, to being on a float in the parade throwing beads, to being a house photographer in the parade.

Even though the theme changes each year, it always holds true to three things for me- inclusion, diversity and equality. I knew I wanted to photograph that because it's a month where we acknlowedge the people of Toronto being themselves. Through the drag shows, parties, dyke march, AIDS vigil and the largest trans march in the world, we learn a lot about ourselves as a people.

We acknowledge who we are as a whole and see each other honestly. We each tell our own story no matter what the background and we find duality in it. As a photographer, consistently capturing the essence of that in my photographs is what makes Pride so special to me.
